  1. Do online lessons even work? You live on the other side of the country.

Yes. I began teaching online lessons using Skype in 2008. The results have far exceeded my expectations.

  2. I am an absolute beginner. Will you take me as a student?

Absolutely. The lessons are designed specifically for all skill levels.

  3. What do I need to start lessons?

The two requirements are a reliable internet connection and a good quality webcam. Most newer generation computers and tablets have excellent video conferencing capabilities built in. Current students use desktop computers, laptops, tablets such iPads, and even iPhones. You also need an acoustic guitar, tuner, and metronome.

  4. How much do lessons cost and how do I pay for lessons?

Lessons are $60 per hour. You can pay via Paypal, Venmo, Zelle or by check. For more information please review the Pricing & Policies page

  5. What is your cancellation policy?

If the student cancels their lesson the day it was scheduled or is a no-show they are responsible for paying for the lesson.

  6. What if I need to reschedule my lesson?

Lessons may be rescheduled with a minimum of 24 hours notice. Rescheduled lessons must be made up within 48 hours of the original scheduled lesson. Rescheduled lessons may not be rolled over to the next lesson.

  7. Do I have to commit to a certain number of lessons?

No. You can schedule a lesson anytime but I recommend weekly lessons, which is what most students do. Consistency yields the best results.

  8. I live on a different continent and there is an eight hour time difference. Can I still take lessons?

Absolutely. I work with students on five different continents. I will accommodate your schedule.

  9. What if there are technical difficulties and the internet is down?

Though infrequent, there are occasions when the internet may not be working to its full potential. If there are any technical difficulties we will reschedule the lesson and you will not be charged.

  10. Do you teach music theory?

Yes. I have a strong theory background.

  11. There is a specific song I have been wanting to learn for twenty years. Can we work on it?

  12. Can I share audio and video files with you for feedback?

Yes. Recording yourself is an important part of the learning process. I encourage all my students to record themselves and share files with me so I can offer suggestions and track their progress. There are numerous options available today for recording audio and video.

  13. What if I have a question about something we worked on during the lesson? Can I contact you?

Absolutely. I encourage students to contact to me anytime if they have questions. We may only meet in person for one hour a week but you have access to me via email anytime.

  14. I am not interested in performing in public. I just want to learn my favorite songs. Will you take me as a student?

Yes. The lessons are designed specifically around your goals.

  15. Do you provide practice videos for the materials or songs we are working on?
